Old Mandeville is one of the more character-rich neighborhoods on the Northshore. The streets are narrow, the lots are established, and the homes have history behind them. Carondelet Street is a good example of what makes that part of Mandeville worth preserving rather than replacing.
This project was a renovation rather than a ground-up build, which brings its own set of challenges. Older homes in this area often have surprises once work begins: outdated systems, materials that predate modern building codes, or structural conditions that weren’t visible until walls came open. Working through those realities without losing what makes the home worth renovating in the first place is a different skill set than new construction.
West Custom Homes handled this Carondelet Street project from start to finish, coordinating the trades and managing the process so the owners weren’t left doing that themselves. If you have a property in Old Mandeville or elsewhere on the Northshore that you are considering renovating, get in touch to talk through what that process looks like, or read more about how we approach each project.
