The Northshore has become one of the most sought-after places to build in Louisiana, and Mandeville, Covington, Madisonville, and Abita Springs each bring their own character to the process. What Goes Into a West Custom Homes Build
Every project in our custom home portfolio started the same way: with a client who had a vision and many unanswered questions. How long will this take? Who will actually be on my job site? What happens when something unexpected comes up mid-build?
Those are the right questions to ask, and they deserve straight answers before you sign anything.
West Custom Homes operates as a small, owner-led custom building company based in Mandeville. Keith West carries his Louisiana State Contractor’s License and manages every project directly, which means you are not handed off to a project manager after the sales process. The people you meet at the beginning are the people building your home.
Our process follows the same framework from project to project: site evaluation, design coordination, permitting, construction, and a final walkthrough before keys change hands. You can read through each phase in detail on our Building Process page.
We also work with a vetted group of subcontractors across trades, most of whom have been on our jobs for over a decade. That kind of continuity matters on a custom build, where the details on one trade’s work directly affect the next. The National Association of Home Builders outlines why consistent subcontractor relationships are one of the clearest indicators of build quality, and it lines up with what we see in practice.
